Privacy Policy

Effective 7 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information LiftQuotes collects, why, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or delete it.

The short version: when you request quotes, we share your request with lift companies that service your area so they can quote. Your property address and photos are visible to those companies. Your name, phone and email are released only if you allow it. We don’t sell personal information. Using LiftQuotes means agreeing to our Terms of Use.

1. Who we are

This policy is published by LiftQuotes (“LiftQuotes”, “we”, “us”, “our”). It applies to liftquotes.com.au, the LiftQuotes company portal, and the emails we send.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) for electronic messages.

2. The personal information we collect

If you request quotes

  • your name, email address and phone number, and a business or organisation name if you give one;
  • the address of the property, including suburb, postcode and state;
  • details of the job: the type of lift or service, the property type, number of floors, building stage, timing, budget, current lift and provider, and anything else you tell us;
  • plans, drawings and photographs you upload, which may show the inside of your home or building;
  • messages you exchange with lift companies through LiftQuotes;
  • the outcome of your request, if you tell us which company you chose.

We save your answers as you complete the quote form, so you can pick up where you left off. This means we may hold what you entered even if you don’t submit the form.

Sensitive information

Some requests involve information about health or disability: who will use the lift, mobility needs, or funding such as the NDIS, Support at Home or home care packages. This is “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act. We only collect it with your consent, which you give by including it in your request, and we only use and share it to get you quotes for the lift you need.

Information about your property

When you give us an address, we look it up to help companies quote accurately: its map location, council area and publicly available planning, heritage and similar overlays from government spatial data, and map and Street View imagery from Google.

If you work for a lift company

  • your name, work email address, phone number and role;
  • the states and services your company assigns to you for leads;
  • your activity in the company portal, including quotes and messages you send and a record of each time you reveal a buyer’s contact details.

Our company directory

Our directory lists lift companies using information they give us and information that is publicly available, such as business names, ABNs, websites, business contact details, service areas and public review ratings (including from Google). Some of this may include the names or work contact details of people at those companies.

When you use our website

  • technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and the referring website or campaign that brought you to us;
  • anything you send us by email, or through a form, and our replies.

You can browse LiftQuotes without telling us who you are. We need your contact details to get you quotes, because the companies need a way to reach you or reply to you.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you: through our quote forms, the company portal, email and phone;
  • automatically: when you use our website (see Cookies and analytics);
  • from lift companies: for example, when a company adds a colleague to its team;
  • from public sources and service providers: business registers, company websites, Google (ratings, reviews and maps) and government spatial datasets.

If you give us personal information about someone else, such as the person who will use the lift, please make sure they know you are doing so and that they can read this policy.

4. How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • review your quote request and match it to lift companies that service your area and job type;
  • send your request to those companies, and let them quote on it and message you through LiftQuotes;
  • send you updates about your request, including quotes, messages and follow-ups asking how it went;
  • run company accounts, including deciding which team members are sent which leads;
  • respond to enquiries, complaints and requests;
  • keep LiftQuotes secure, and detect and prevent spam, fraud and misuse;
  • understand how LiftQuotes is used, and improve our website, content and service;
  • keep our company directory accurate, and contact lift companies about their listing and about using LiftQuotes;
  • meet our legal obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We use AI services to help with some of this work: sorting the emails we receive and drafting replies, drafting emails to lift companies, and assessing requests to claim a company listing. The information involved, such as the content of an email or a claim request, is sent to those services for that purpose. A person at LiftQuotes reviews and confirms claim decisions.

We will only use your information for another purpose if you have consented, or if the Privacy Act otherwise allows it.

5. How your quote request is shared with lift companies

Getting you quotes means sharing your request with lift companies. These companies are independent businesses, not part of LiftQuotes.

  • Who sees it. We share your request with companies that service your state and the type of job. We may also invite other companies we consider suitable. This can be a number of companies; we tell you how many we have invited once we have reviewed your request. Within each company, it goes to the staff who handle that kind of job.
  • What they see. Companies can see the details of your job, the property address, and any plans and photos you upload, so they can quote properly.
  • Your name, phone and email. If you leave the “happy for relevant lift companies to contact me directly” box ticked, company staff can reveal your name, phone number and email address on LiftQuotes so they can contact you. We record who revealed them and when. If you untick the box, we keep these details back until you choose to share them, for example by accepting a quote. You can change this at any time from your dashboard.

Once a company has your information, it handles it under its own privacy obligations. We require companies to use it only to quote on and respond to your request.

We do not sell personal information. We don’t charge buyers or companies, and we don’t receive anything from companies for sharing your request with them.

6. Other people we share information with

We also share personal information with:

  • service providers who help us run LiftQuotes, such as website hosting, databases and file storage, email delivery, maps and address lookup, spam protection, analytics and AI services. They may only use it to provide their services to us;
  • our professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and insurers;
  • courts, regulators, law enforcement and other authorities, where the law requires or allows it;
  • anyone who acquires, or is considering acquiring, all or part of our business, under confidentiality obligations.

7. Storage and overseas disclosure

Our main database and the files you upload are stored in Australia (Sydney). Some of our service providers process information outside Australia as part of their services:

  • website hosting and delivery (Vercel): the United States and other countries where it runs servers;
  • email delivery (Mailgun): the United States;
  • maps, address lookup and imagery (Google): the United States and other countries;
  • spam protection on our forms (Cloudflare): the United States and other countries;
  • AI services used for email handling and claim reviews (OpenRouter, and AI model providers it routes to such as Anthropic): the United States.

We choose providers with recognised security practices, and we take reasonable steps for them to handle personal information consistently with the APPs.

8. Cookies and analytics

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in to your dashboard or the company portal. LiftQuotes doesn’t work properly without them.
  • Campaign details. If you arrive from an ad or campaign link, we keep the campaign tags in your browser for that visit, so we know which campaigns lead to quote requests.
  • Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count visits and measure page speed. They work without advertising cookies, and we use them to report in aggregate, not to identify you.
  • Offline copies. Our site can keep copies of public pages on your device so they load quickly and work offline.
  • Third-party services. Google Maps (in our address fields) and Cloudflare spam protection may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you won’t be able to sign in.

9. Emails we send

We send emails about your quote request and your account: confirmations, new quotes and messages, follow-ups, and sign-in codes. Companies receive emails about leads and activity on their jobs.

We only send marketing emails in line with the Spam Act 2003. Every marketing email identifies us and has an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribe requests within five working days.

10. Automated matching

We use automated rules to match quote requests to companies, based on the request’s state and type of job and the areas and services each company lists. Within a company, the same rules decide which staff are emailed about a lead. We also review requests before companies are invited. AI helps us assess requests to claim a company listing, but a person makes the final decision. We don’t use automated processes to make decisions about you that have a legal or similarly significant effect.

11. How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include:

  • encryption in transit;
  • access controls that limit each user to their own data;
  • keeping buyers’ contact details back until they are released;
  • logging who views them;
  • restricting staff access to what their role needs.

No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

12. How long we keep it

We keep personal information while we need it for the purposes in this policy, including while your request or account is active, and afterwards for as long as we need it for our records, to deal with any questions or disputes, and to meet legal obligations. That is generally up to seven years. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

13. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@liftquotes.com.au. You can also ask us to delete your information or your request. We will verify your identity before acting, and respond within 30 days. We don’t charge for requests.

If we refuse a request, for example because the law requires us to keep the information, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain. Deleting information from LiftQuotes doesn’t remove copies a lift company already holds. Contact that company directly.

14. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@liftquotes.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days, investigate it, and respond in writing within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

15. Children

LiftQuotes is for adults arranging lift work. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from people under 18 except where a parent, guardian or carer provides it as part of a request.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will publish the new version here with its effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell you by email or on the website before it applies.
